Subscribing to and Using
Institute for Scientific Information's (ISI)
Current Contents Alert Service
ISI's Contents Alert Service enables you to select journal titles from subject lists and to receive the tables-of-content and abstracts of those articles via e-mail. In spite of the scientific name of the vendor, the subject matter of the journals covered is multidisciplinary. You must use your WSU e-mail account to be eligible for this service.
Subscribing to and using Corporate Alert Service:
- Prepare an e-mail message to: ca-wayne@radirect.isinet.com. In the body of message type in capitals, REGISTER JANE DOE Except, substitute YOUR NAME instead of Jane Doe;
- Send the message;
- Your e-mail account will receive a response in about 30 minutes that consists of 226 or more academic subjects;
- Browse through the topics and select those of interest to you. The on-screen instructions lead you through the selection process. When completed, you are asked to use the "reply" function of your e-mail to submit your profile. If the reply function will not work (e.g., with Netscape 3.0), use the "forward" function instead;
- Your e-mail account will then receive lists of journals categorized by the topics you've selected;
- Browse through the journal titles to select and send (as in #4) those titles for which you wish to be automatically alerted.
- If you experience difficulties in establishing your account, please contact a librarian.
