WSU E-Lectures Online
The actual lectures are listed through electronic reserves.
On average LCMS provides between 60 and 100 streamed lectures per week from the major lecture halls on campus. To request this service, please fill out our Digital Audio Recording Request form
Why provide electronic versions of lectures?
- To advance the University's mission;
- To meet its obligations to its nontraditional students by providing lectures on demand, anytime, anywhere;
- To provide a free digital alternative to traditional audio cassettes;
- To remove barriers to students with disabilities who may have difficulty coming to campus;
- Build a basis for expanded use of streaming technologies in other types of student instruction;
In the context of responding to extremely high student demand for flexible learning opportunities the Library System has begun a project of streaming audio technologies. Active students as well as students with disabilities, both of which may have difficulty coming to campus to retrieve recorded audio cassettes, will have a new access method - Web delivery.
During Fall Semester 2000, approximately 8,400 audio-taped course lectures were provided as a service in 31 courses. According to an April 2000 WSU student survey on recorded lecture usage, respondents indicated an extremely high interest in using recorded lectures and in receiving these lectures through the Web. Most notably:
- 95% of respondents considered availability of recorded lectures very important or important
- 96% of respondents they would be very interested in receiving course lectures over the web
