Law Library Facilities
Carrels
Carrels located at the back of the First Level and Second Level are for quiet individual study and may not be reserved. Never leave your personal belongings in them. The Law Library is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Library materials may not accumulate in carrels without a note stating the purpose and date and may not remain there overnight. All carrels will be cleared daily and materials without notes may be cleared throughout the day.
Circulation Desk
Materials that can circulate outside the building are checked out at the Circulation Desk (First Level). Special Reserves and unbound periodicals are available at this desk. Books with call numbers on the Second Level circulate for 28 days unless restricted to Building Use Only. They may be renewed unless another library user has requested them. Since the Law Library is a research library, very few items in the collection can be checked out of the building. Reserve and special Reserve materials are to be used in the Library for 3 hour periods or as designated and must be returned to the Circulation Desk. Check with a Desk Attendant regarding the circulation policy for any item you wonder about or check the library catalog.
- The Circulation staff cannot:
- PROVIDE paging for telephone calls for persons in the building. We will take a name and telephone number and post it on the message board at the Library entrance.
- PROVIDE the names of persons that have books checked out.
- PROVIDE change.
- The Circulation staff will:
- RENEW books over the telephone.
- ASSIST with interlibrary loan requests.
- PROCESS SEARCH for missing items and notify you of outcome.
